Michigan Basketball: 3 keys to beating Villanova for the national title
Michigan needs to make more 3’s
Villanova has only lost four times this season and on three of those occasions, opposing teams either beat or tied the Wildcats in terms of 3-point field goals.
Butler scored 101 points in a win over Villanova, so the Wildcats defense can be had. Nova isn’t as good defensively as Loyola and that should lead to some really good looks for Michigan basketball.
However, knocking down those looks is going to be vital. Against Loyola, Wagner saved the day, but Michigan missed a lot of open shots. Robinson hit a big three in the second half, but he also missed shots where is usually automatic, like from the corner. That can’t happen again.
Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman can’t go 0-for-5 and Robinson will need a better night than 2-for-6. That’s just the way it is. Nova is going to make shots and the Wildcats are going to score points. Michigan is going to have to answer and is going to need to make around 10 triples to take home the national title.
