Michigan Basketball: 3 Predictions for UM and the Final Four
If Michigan gets going from 3-point range, look out
Although the Wolverines reached the Final Four, they did it without shooting the ball well. Outside of the Texas A&M game, when Michigan drilled 14 3-pointers, UM struggled from deep, especially against Florida State, going 4-of-22.
Michigan kept winning because of its tenacious defense, which is a great sign. Yet, if Michigan basketball can start knocking down shots, it’s going to be a bad sign for the other three teams in attendance.
Of the four teams in the Final Four, Michigan comes in with the best defense. The Wolverines are allowing less than 60 points per game and have held three of their four tournament opponents to under 40 percent shooting. UM held Montana to 32 percent and Florida State to 31.
However, guys like Duncan Robinson, Moe Wagner and Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, have struggled to find consistency. Charles Matthews has done a great job picking up the slack and that will need to continue.
But if Michigan can get its other three big guns rolling, a national championship is well within reach. And on this stage, you just get the feeling, that even if it’s just for a stretch in the first game, at some point, this team of shooters will get hot.
