The Michigan basketball team is making its third trip to the Sweet 16 in the past six seasons, here are the three players most responsible.

It was a great weekend for Michigan basketball, there is no question about it. The Wolverines made it back to the Sweet 16, while Ohio State and Michigan State, both were eliminated in the second round.

For a while, it looked like Michigan basketball would be too. If you didn’t think the Wolverines were going home with 3.9 seconds left and Devin Davis at the line, you either incredibly faithful or just lying.

Admittedly, I thought the Wolverines were toast. I was already consoling myself with the idea of back-to-back Big Ten titles and another NCAA victory. Five straight trips with at least one win isn’t bad, I thought to myself. Thankfully, Jordan Poole made me a dreamer again.

That shot not only saved the season, it gave every Michigan fan a memory that will last for a lifetime. Wins like that don’t happen all the time. When they do, you have to cherish it. The team also needs to take advantage of it.

In the NCAA Tournament, you need to survive and advance. Well, Michigan basketball did that against Montana and Houston, but will need to be better against Texas A&M. The Aggies throttled North Carolina and they look as scary as anyone in the West Region.

However, the fact remains, that Michigan is the highest seeded team left. If UM keeps winning, it won’t face a higher-seeded team until the National Championship. That’s a ways off still, but looking back, here are the three guys that made sure UM is still alive.
