Aidan Hutchinson has a ton of talent. It was also his childhood dream to play for Michigan football. That passion, as well as his ability, will make fans love him.

Making predictions about incoming freshman is hard to do. No matter where a kid plays in high school, college football is a completely different world. Yet, after reading why Aidan Hutchinson wanted to play for Michigan football, it’s makes you almost certain he has what it takes to be a star for the Wolverines.

If you are wondering what I am talking about, give this a read. That is what Hutchinson wrote to the Detroit Free Press about why he wanted to be a Wolverine. He gave his reasons for wanting to play for Michigan football and it was inspiring.

Hutchinson of course, is committed to play for the Wolverines next season. He’s 6-6 and 280 pounds. According to 247 sports, he is ranked as the No. 8 strong-side defensive end in the country. In the state of Michigan, he is considered the third best player. Oh and he’s a good tight end too.

This was a big get for Michigan football, but it didn’t come easy. Hutchinson was highly recruited and wanted to explore his options. In the piece he talks of his visits to Michigan State, Ohio State and Notre Dame, just to name a few. But at the end of the day, he said Michigan always felt the right choice to make.

Thankfully, that’s the choice he made. It’s hard to say if Hutchinson can play right away for the Wolverines, but with his size and athletic ability, he certainly seems to have a legit chance.

But down the road, Hutchinson definitely has the qualities to be a standout player for the Wolverines. He’s tough, he’s motivated and he’s proud to be a Michigan man. He knows the history, he knows what it means to beat the Buckeyes. He grew up in a Michigan household after all in Dearborn.

A great defensive line is one requirement for a championship team in college football and with guys like Hutchinson, the Wolverines can make up for some key losses coming in the next two years.

Maurice Hurst and Chase Winovich could be gone after this season. Then after next year, Rashan Gary will likely enter the NFL draft. So Michigan is going to need guys like Hutchinson to standout. And 6-6 guys who can play tight end and rush the passer, don’t grow on trees.

Maybe I’m wrong, but motivation means a lot in college football. All of these guys are good. But how many will truly dedicate themselves to being great, to winning championships?

When coaches say they need to find the right guys, that’s what they are talking about. And to me, it seems safe to say, that Hutchinson, is one of them.
