The bowl game is that only thing left this season for Michigan football and here’s a few reasons to be excited about a potential berth in the Outback Bowl against South Carolina.

With a 31-20 loss to Ohio State last Saturday, the Michigan football team saw its regular season end with a thud. Thankfully, the Wolverines have one more game to play.

And thanks to some information that came out Monday, we might know what bowl game Michigan football will play in and who it will be against.

College football reporter Brett McMurphy released his weekly bowl projections and when it came to Michigan, he had the Wolverines playing in the Outback Bowl vs South Carolina. Only, according to McMurphy, it’s more than just a projection — it’s going to happen.

McMurphy does actually use the term lock when describing Michigan football heading to Tampa Bay. He also seems to indicate the opponent will be South Carolina, which sets up a rematch of the 2013 game, which produced this hit.

Beyond that, there are a lot of reasons to like this matchup for Michigan. It gives them a chance to play a solid opponent and get a ninth win. If the Wolverines succeed, it would be the first time the program has won at least nine games in three straight season since 2002-04 under Lloyd Carr.

Here are a few other reasons to like this matchup, if it turns out to be true.
