Michigan will slow Wisconsin ground game

When Michigan football played Penn State, the Wolverines vaunted defense got embarrassed. The Nittany Lions ran up 42 points and the Wolverines were blown out on national television.

Saturday, Wisconsin will try to do the same thing. The difference? The Badgers don’t have an elite quarterback.

As much as Saquan Barkley hurt Michigan, quarterback Trace McSorley did just as much damage, both with his arm and with his legs. The Badgers have the second-best run offense in the Big Ten (245 YPG) for a reason, but they also haven’t a faced a defense like Michigan’s.

The Wolverines allow just 110 yards per game on the ground and with a fearsome front seven, they should be able to contain Taylor, who has seven 100-yard games this season. Only Northwestern and Illinois held him under 100 in conference play.

But since quarterback Alex Hornibrook isn’t a running threat, it can allow Michigan to focus on stopping Taylor. That and the drive to prove itself again, will lead the defense to have a good day in Madison. Hopefully, it will end up being enough to get the win.
