The former No. 1 running back is making his presence felt

If Michigan football was going to beat Rutgers, it was going to need a big day on the ground and that’s exactly what the Wolverines got. Michigan racked up 334 yards on the ground and scored four rushing touchdowns.

Higdon, who has been the top ball carrier in recent weeks for the Wolverines, had a breakout game, finishing with 158 yards on 18 carries (8.8 avg), including an electrifying 49-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Ty Isaac also had his best game in a few weeks, getting 109 yards on 14 carries. Chris Evans added five carries for 29 yards, as well a 20-yard touchdown reception. All that was good, but the thing that excited me the most Saturday, was the play of Kareem Walker.

Walker, the top-ranked high school running back in the 2016 class, never got on the field in 2016 due to grades. This season, he has flashed in practice but before yesterday, had just a few carries.

Against the Scarlet Knights, Walker finally got some run. He carried the rock six times for 34 yards. He also had a rushing touchdown and a run for 13 yards. He’s athletic, big and physical. As well as Isaac and Higdon are running right now, it’s clear to me, Walker needs more touches, period.
