Michigan Football vs Air Force: 3 Predictions for the Wolverines
The run defense will surrender yards, not points
There is no doubt that within the first two weeks of the season, Michigan football has dominated defensively, especially on the ground. The Wolverines rank third in the nation after allowing an average of just 39.5 yards rushing to Florida and Cincinnati.
Yet, Michigan’s run defense will be challenged even further this week by Air Force, which racked up 473 rushing yards in its season-opening win over VMI. Certainly, the Wolverines have a much better defense than the FCS program, but with the Falcons commitment to the option and the run, they will certainly get some yardage.
Air Force attempted 14 passes in its win over VMI, but averaged just 11.5 attempts last season. So whether they have success early or not, the Falcons aren’t going to abandon the run and start airing it out.
Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Falcons rack up more than 200 yards rushing, but anything more than 20 points on the scoreboard would be a little shocking.
