Michigan football welcomes Air Force to the Big House Saturday. Here are three predictions for the Wolverines as they get ready for the Falcons.

The Air Force Academy may not seem like a juggernaut, but the Falcons were 10-3 a season ago and if Michigan football isn’t careful, they could make things more difficult than expected.

Obviously, Air Force winning 10 games last season is no match to the 10 wins Michigan football notched in 2016. But still, the Mountain West Conference, the conference the Falcons call home, is no slouch.

Air Force head coach Troy Calhoun is in his 10th season as head coach and in eight of the previous nine years, the Falcons have reached a bowl game, including the last three.

Of course, Air Force will never have elite talent like Michigan football does, but its a tough, physical program. And you can bet, the Falcons won’t be intimidated by playing in the Big House, not with the mental fortitude the academy has instilled in them.

Yet, mental toughness and character don’t win football games. Talent does and that’s something the Wolverines have in spades. However, if UM is off its game, the Falcons are more than capable of keeping things competitive.

With its old-school rushing attack, Air Force will certainly generate some yards on the ground, but will it be enough to score much against the Michigan defense? And at the same time, can the Falcons stand up the speed of the Wolverines offense?

The answers, from this perspective will come as soon as a I peer into my magic 8-ball.
