Media:

The ABC team of Bob Wichusen, Brock Huard and Allison Williams had the call. I think they did a good job. Allison had a few good tidbits, including a report from Chris Evans that the RB group likes to stalk LB’s they will be facing on social media in search for any edge they can glean to help them in game prep. Huard seemed to be rooting for an upset, but it was all in good fun, no harm, no foul.

Mack Brown from the ABC halftime crew seemed quite confident that Michigan football would pull it out and was sure the sluggish start, which he opined is typical of young guys who just got past a tough Florida team and were expecting a breather, would be addressed in no uncertain terms from coach Harbaugh. And lo, it seemed to come to pass.

Ref’s:

I have to apologize for blaming the ref’s last week. That first TD scored by Crawford, which they took away – the one at 5:31 left in the first qtr. – well I said here that they stole one from us. I was in good company, Harbaugh said pretty much the same thing at his post game presser. The announcers said so, and one of my most trusted sources on Michigan football technique, etc. – Brian of MGoBlog in his weekly UFR even seemingly took the same view.

But – this is the thing – after watching it about ten times I noticed that Big Mike Onwenu was just standing there on the goaline as Crawford was making the catch. He had finished his block and just kept drifting downfield. The ref’s were obviously calling him – they just didn’t articulate it well, transposing his no. (50) for Khalid Hill’s (80). So, hopefully that mystery is firmly solved.

This game – I think they blew the PI call on Lavert Hill with 3:34 left in the first, which led directly to the first TD for the bad guys. Then with 2:32 left in the second it looks like they blew a very close call on replay in which Grant Perry seemed to get his hands under the ball, they called it inc. and doubled down on the replay. It would have given us a first down. Then with 5:04 left in the third, they missed a PI call on the CB covering Black. But Speight just lined up on the next play and threw a nice 36 yd. pass w/YAC to Gentry – so, UM handled that one.

One more outside influence – this is not an every week occurrence, but occasionally I will watch the game with my uncle Peter. He is rather opinionated, you know the type. And he’s been a Meechigan fan since – I donno, since Bob Ufer was a boy scout, maybe? Well, my uncle Peter is not a fan of our present QB. I keep trying to reason with him, but this week it got a little out of hand. It went something like this:

Uncle Peter: There he goes again – look at that fumble.

Me: It happens to the best of em Uncle Peter, even Lamar Jackson – maybe even Bart Starr.

UP: Peters is better than this guy in his sleep, I don’t know why JH sticks with this no talent bum.

Me: Oh now, we all saw the Spring game and we all know that Peters is a much better passer, but there’s more to running a team than just passing uncle Pete.

UP: Yeah, that’s not what Braylon Edwards had to say about it.

Me: Uncle Pete, you’re not gonna start quoting what that malcontent said on the frickin Mike Valenti show the other day, are you?

UP: Malcontent? How many TD’s you catch for the University of Meechigan? Did Lloyd Carr ever designate you to be worthy of a #1 jersey?

Me: Now c’mon uncle Pete – you know I ain’t got the hops or the speed to catch TD’s – how you gonna end an argument like that?

Well, that’s about all the conversation that’s fit to print. Anybody got any help for me with uncle Pete?
