Check out where Michigan football ranks in all the college football polls after Week 1 of the season.

The main polls are out, S&P+ not done yet, but a link is included – I love the statistical analysis they do. Here is a look at how Michigan football ranks in all the new polls.

Bill Connely’s S&P+ link here.

The USA Today/Amway Coaches poll moves us up 1 spot from 9 to 8. Link here.

The Massey Computer poll has been out for awhile now. Link here.

And, the big one, we’ve all been waiting for, the AP poll. They move Michigan Football up three spots from #11 to #8, seems fair. Link here.

This is my Top 11, off the top of my head:

Key: = means unchanged in ranking, +1 means they moved up one, etc.

  1. Alabama 1-0 = Roll Tide is, what Roll Tide does. Two LB’s out for the season? Two 5*s off the bench to replace them, I’m sure.
  2. Clemson 1-0 +3 I expected Clemson to lose a lot with Watson and others gone, then I saw their new QB. These guys are for real.
  3. Ohio St. 1-0 -1 A great new true Frosh RB and plenty of 5*s all around. They should be great til JT needs to beat a team with his arm.
  4. Penn St. 1-0 +2 Nice first game. Let em have their moment in the sun.
  5. Oklahoma 1-0 +2 Are they up to the task of revenge next week in Columbus?
  6. USC 1-0 -2 Western Mich. At home, without PJ Fleck? USC is like a box of chocolates left out in the hot California sun – you never know what you’ve got or what you’ll get.
  7. Meechigan 1-0 +4 Good D covers a multitude of sins. Great D covers even more. This is a dangerous team.
  8. FSU 0-1 -5 Francois out for the year? Gee and running those deep patterns with no Off. Line to speak of against Bama seemed like such a good idea at the time.
  9. Wisconsin 1-0 = Looked horrible in the first half. Then they remembered who they were.
  10. Ok. St. 1-0 = Hard to tell where they’ll end up. So, leave em be. Go on, get!
  11. Washington 1-0 -3 They sure had an awful lot of trouble with Rutgers. Rutgers is much better this year, really. Yes, but they’re still Rutgers.

Some good news for Michigan Football this week. Not only did UM answer a lot of our questions with positive answers, but the B1G and strength of schedule did quite well.

Michigan has two future opponents and division mates in the top 4 (according to me, myself) and a western div. mate and future foe in the Top 10.

The conference also had Rutgers, Indiana, Purdue(!) and especially Maryland all do the B1G proud this week. Now if Michigan football can continue to put one foot in front of the other and get better tomorrow than it was today – I have a good feeling about how this all turns out.
