Michigan Football adds more elite talent to defensive line
Michigan football should have a dominant defensive line in 2017, but the recruits that keep committing, it should dominate well into the future too.
It’s no secret that Jim Harbaugh has done a great job recruiting as head coach for Michigan football. But what has really been amazing, is how the Wolverines continue to stockpile elite talent on the defensive line.

First, there were guys like Rashan Gary and Aubrey Solomon. But in the last week, it has gotten even crazier as Michigan football has landed two five-star defensive ends from the 2019 class.
Stephen Herron was the first to commit and that alone was a big get. Herron ranks as the No. 4 DE in 2019 according to 247sports and the 33rd player overall.
Yet, the Wolverines made another big splash over the weekend, landing the top defensive end in the nation in 2019 recruit Christopher Hinton. Hinton, who the ninth-ranked player nationally in his class, announced his decision on twitter Saturday night.
When you look at what the Wolverines are building, it’s almost hard to believe. In 2016, they landed Gary, top overall player in the country. He now looks like a top-5 pick in waiting.

In 2017, Solomon came aboard as the No. 2 defensive tackle in the nation. And in terms of 2018, Aidan Hutchinson, the No. 9 DE gives Michigan another player to be excited about.
However, getting two of the top four defensive ends from one class is a pretty big coup, for any school. And even though Gary will probably be gone by the time 2019 rolls around, the Wolverines will have two incredibly talented players waiting in the wings to replace him.
When it comes to winning in college football and building a dominant defense, no position group is more important than the defensive line. As the SEC can attest to, a great defensive line can win a lot of ball games.
It certainly seems that Harbaugh has taken that lesson to heart. And after nabbing two elite defensive ends from Georgia and Kentucky (SEC Country), you can see why all those southern coaches were so upset about the satellite camps.
The SEC doesn’t have a monopoly over those players anymore and with his flashy, flamboyant style, Harbaugh has changed the game.
