Michigan Football: Things To Pray For At The Vatican
While Michigan football tours Italy, the Wolverines will be going to Wednesday Mass at the Vatican. They have a few things they should pray for while there.
One of the more anticipated events for Michigan football‘s trip to Italy is the chance to attend Mass on Wednesday at the Vatican.

Jim Harbaugh, his wife and two players (Grant Newsome and Salim Makki) will even get to sit near Pope Francis.
Catholic or not, it would be kind of silly to pass up a chance to attend Mass at the Vatican, but Michigan should be going there with a purpose. You see, the Wolverines have a few things they could use for next season, and what better place to ask for those things than at the Vatican?
So here’s what Michigan’s got to be praying for while they’re there and have this golden opportunity.

1. “Father, grant us the ability to close out football games.”
Michigan has had some troubles the last two seasons closing out games. There’s an especially terrible trend of having the lead with under two minutes to play, as well having the ball, and still not being able to win.
This has to be No. 1 on the list. Everyone should say this prayer simultaneously.
2. “Father, grant us receivers to replace Amara Darboh and Jehu Chesson and a tight end to replace Jake Butt.”
This is lengthier and will be harder to say in unison. But it’s still important.
The top three receivers from a season ago are gone. As I wrote about recently, Michigan isn’t lacking talent, but not much of it is proven. To see a freshman like Donovan Peoples-Jones lead the way would not be surprising.
3. “Father, grant us another Jabrill Peppers.”
Should this work, I expect Michigan to head back to Ann Arbor and see a wild Jabrill Peppers sprouting from midfield at the Big House.
4. “Father, grant us a new schedule that alternates home and away with Michigan State and Ohio State.”
This is past due. The Big Ten needs to realize Michigan should not be playing both the Spartans and Buckeyes on the road one season and then both at home the next.
5. “Father, grant us a win over Ohio State.”
Oh, lordy!
I said the ability to close out football games has to be No. 1 on the list, but I take it all the way back. If the Wolverines get their pick at an answered prayer and it’s not a win over Ohio State, I’ll mail my fan card back to Ann Arbor and start cheering for a MAC team. (I say that as though we don’t all cheer for a MAC team.)

So if these prayers could be lifted up at the Vatican, I would greatly appreciate it.
