Unlike Peppers, Jourdan Lewis has a very defined position. He’s a shutdown corner.
Lewis is easily Michigan’s leader in the secondary and has the numbers to prove it. His 14 pass breakups puts him nine above the Wolverines’ next best (Peppers with five), and he has Michigan’s only pick-six of the season.
He got easily his most challenging matchup so far against Michigan State and standout receiver Aaron Burbridge.
That was a fun battle to watch.
Lewis broke up six passes on the day and didn’t go silent in the game’s most critical moments. He and Burbridge shared their punches, but it’s difficult to say one lost to the other.
While Michigan’s defense has been pretty good in recent seasons, the secondary has had its holes. It’s a different story this season, and a lot of that has to do with the play of Lewis.
