Michigan Hoops Player Austin Hatch to be Featured on ESPN Sunday, Monday
The gripping story of a University of Michigan basketball player who has survived two plane crashes leads off the new season of ESPN SportsCenter’s award-winning storytelling brand SC Featured on Sunday, Feb. 8.
“Miraculous: The Story of Austin Hatch” debuts in the 10 a.m. ET edition of SportsCenter and will re-air in other editions of the program throughout the day Sunday.

A survivor of two separate plane crashes that killed family members and his pilot father, Hatch realized his dream to play basketball for the University of Michigan this season.

“I’ve met some amazing people,” said Dan Arruda, producer of the piece for ESPN. “But I’ve never met anyone who’s gone through as much work as he has and dealt with as much tragedy as he has.”
In addition to the feature airing during SportsCenter, a half-hour special on Hatch airs Monday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m. on ESPNU. A radio version will air on ESPN Radio’s “The Sporting Life with Jeremy Schaap” on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 7 a.m. and also will be available as a podcast.
