Michigan Wolverine Football: A Thought on the “Michigan” Brand
It is interesting to hear the comments from potential recruits when asked about “What do you know about Michigan”? Most respond that it has the biggest stadium, it has been a winning program, but that is about it.

When Dave Brandon took the job at Michigan, he constantly talked about “rebuilding the brand’ at Michigan.
In retrospect, what he was attempting to do was basically impossible based on the decision he made. He hired Brady Hoke, who understood the traditions at Michigan and Brady Hoke spent a bunch of time and energy trying to drill feelings of tradition into the players.
But, now everyone should realize except for those who were around during the Bo days, Harbaugh is now the new “brand” when it comes to Michigan football. I now understand that Michigan has been mediocre for so long that only someone who has the “name”, earned elsewhere, but being a part of the past Michigan can revitalize Michigan. Jim Harbaugh is it, he is our chance.

And let me be the first to predict, if Jim Harbaugh is able to restore Michigan football to national prominence, the name “Harbaugh” is going to lead this program for the next 20 years. I know this is way down the road and is somewhat crazy to predict at this point, but I do think eventually Jim Harbaugh will get the itch to go back to the NFL and who will be ready to replace him, another Harbaugh.
For those who ranted about the hiring of his son, Jay Harbaugh, of course he has a ton to learn, is very young, but may have even more intensity and passion towards coaching than his dad.
