Michigan Wolverine Football: Alex Malzone — Enrolled
Alex Malzone, quarterback from Brother Rice in Michigan falls in the category of a high 3-star/low 4-star recruit depending on the recruiting service you want to believe. Malzone threw for 2,998 yards, 38 touchdowns and 5 interceptions last season for Brother Rice and was named the Michigan high school player of the year.

With coming in early he could have a good chance at playing time with little game experience from Shane Morris and Wilton Speight red-shirting last season. Will be interesting to see how things shake out this spring and also will be interesting to see if Jim Harbaugh goes after a 5th year transfer such as Kevin Hogan, but he will be highly sought after 5th year player and will Michigan change their policy on taking a 5th year transfer with new head coach Jim Harbaugh in town now.
The biggest issue with a 5th year player coming to Michigan is the timing. They almost need to get things done NOW for it to happen and for him to apply for post grad school, getting into the field that he wants which Stanford doesn’t have, and has a long process of getting thing rolling.
CoachBT believes that Malzone reminds him of Maty Mauk the starting quarterback at Missouri. He stated that he tells people to think of Mauk with a stronger arm is how he would describe Malzone. Alex moves well enough in the pocket to avoid the rush and be a nuisance.
Michigan Wolverines
Michigan fans should be happy with the news of both Cole and Malzone both stuck with their Michigan commitment and enrolled early for spring football along with getting a jump start on their academic classes.
Both could be big players in this football season depending on how spring football goes along with how other players develop and respond to the new coaching staff.
Everybody will be on a equal playing field with new coaches coming in and everybody will get a shot to show what they are able to do.
