Michigan Wolverines: ND — What Happened and What it Means — Part III
Michigan Undergoes Disaster — Michigan at Notre Dame — Wrap-up
What does all of this mean? The poison pen could run wild in answering this query, and so the approach will be direct but polite. Michigan has worked hard, both the players and the staff. Massive deficiencies still are apparent on the offensive line. This team has not beaten a good opponent in quite a long time, and that is concerting to all. The turnover machine returned last week with Devin Gardner having four turnovers. The last one being strange, but he end result was a final play smell-this embarrassment to Michigan. In short the problems of last year remain.
Hopefully, the well-coordinated Michigan recruiting effort of 2015 does not slide into the abyss. Notre Dame enjoyed a massive recruiting field day courtesy of the Wolverines. It is truly disappointing that Michigan played so poorly against a group whose administration spit in the face of Michigan.

Will the coordinators stay with the current schemes that were exposed? Will the offensive line be able to field five guys that can play up to mid league standards? Will Michigan put in a package that just lets Gardner go back to being a semi-Denard, at the risk of injury? Will Michigan fold up like a cheap lounge chair, or will the team come out with fight and win some games? Right now the team’s tail is so far under the legs that it is touching the nose.
Keep this in mind: Utah is much better than posters on this site have acknowledged. Michigan will see a similar passing attack. Utah hangs in with the good PAC 12 teams, but like Michigan and Texas, has struggled against the top tier.
Sep 6, 2014; Lincoln, NE, USA; Nebraska Cornhuskers running back Ameer Abdullah (8) breaks away from McNeese State Cowboys defenders Gabe Hamner (4) and Kevin Dorn (75) to score the winning touchdown in the final twenty seconds of the game at Memorial Stadium. Nebraska won 31-24. Mandatory Credit: Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY SportsIn the second week of the season, the Big Ten is probably has about a one in five chance, at best, of making the new four-team championship format. Michigan State and Ohio State must run the table to finish 11-1, and one will lose in the Ohio State-Michigan match-up. Wisconsin plays a true cupcake schedule the rest of the way, perhaps the easiest in the nation by a contender. So, will the member committee dismiss the Badgers due to schedule inferiority? Nebraska may be the only team with even a chance to beat Wisconsin, unless Iowa comes on strong. The blown game to LSU could greatly haunt the Badgers come December.
The smart bet here, at the early stage, appears to remain latched to Michigan State. Ohio State will not fix its line problems overnight, but on the defensive side, the Buckeyes have a great front four. If a team can secure time, like Virginia Tech did, the Buckeyes can be had on smart calls in the passing game.
But then things can change, and for Michigan that is a must, not an option.
