GBMWolverine Football Spring Evaluations: Position-by-Position — Player Profile.
GBMWolverine readers: Here is a brief overview of Patrick Omameh and GBMWolverine’s analysis concerning his progress this spring in our opinion.
Note: We will not evaluate every player on the team and with this position group (Offensive Line) we will not evaluate #61 Graham Glasgow and #70 Kristian Mateus. If you would like to chat about this player bring them up on the message board or send us an e-mail request.
Reminder: Also noted that we didn’t attend every practice and realize things happen during those fifteen practices, but our evaluations are based on what we seen first hand and in our opinion and not what we hear like just about every other site out there that relies on second, third hand information to make their evaluations of the players during the spring.
Losing from 2011 (Team #132) on scholarship: David Molk, Rocko Khoury, and Mark Huyge.
Coming in for 2012 (Team #133) on scholarship: Kyle Kalis, Blake Bars, Erik Magnuson, Ben Braden, and A.J. Williams (TE/OL).

Patrick Omameh , from St. Francis DeSales in Columbus, Ohio has always been a sentimental favorite of the GBMWolverine Staff.
Patrick has the necessary skills to be a superb lineman: super quick feet, long arms, good size, and Patrick is probably the best athlete of the offensive linemen. He will be a returning starter and with three new offensive linemen at different positions this season, Michigan needs to an anchor. The coaches can lean on Patrick has a leader to help bond the group and make the offensive line a tight unit.
The offensive line needs to work as a coherent group, a goal that takes time. Patrick can help in this endeavor.
For some reason Patrick just has not been able to put it all together with any consistency. He has had injuries in the past, but he really needs to put it all together this year to help this team up-front and let the coaches count on the right side of the line, especially with having a new center, new left guard, and a new right tackle.
Patrick needs to raise his game and take that next step this fall. It will be an interesting match-up for Patrick and the entire offensive line the first game of the year against Alabama. The Michigan line will be tested early and often. This group of offensive linemen struggled last season going up against big, quick, fast, powerful defenders. Specifically, the offense struggled against teams like Michigan State and Ohio State that had good defensive linemen.
On one play Patrick looks like a potential All-American, and then like a third stringer on the next play. He needs to be much more consistent, along with bringing a nasty edge to his game. Patrick seems to really have problems raising his intensity level and bringing out that nasty edge one likes to see in offensive linemen.
