GBMWolverine: Coach’s Corner — Michigan Football — Top 22 Offensive Players Evaluations 22-16

The college football season never really ends for any dedicated aficionado that wishes every week was game week. We here also plead guilty and have prepared tidbits for consumption looking at the 2011 and offensive and defensive personnel.

First off is a look back and ahead for key offensive players of 2011, and below is a short description relating to those key players.

After seeing our ranking of players come to the message board and give your opinion and how you would rank the offensive players.

22. John McColgan (FB):

John only caught a single pass, but he sure delivered some outstanding blocks.

Not bad for a walk on!

He always looked good in practice when the ball came his way in the flat.

21. Tom Pomarico (Snapper):

A viewer only notices long snappers when they mess up.

That is why most Michigan fans don’t even recognize his name. If you knew his name before reading this good for you and obviously your a Michigan football junkie a lot like we are, but for those that aren’t here is a reminder of a student-athlete at Michigan.

20/19. Steve Watson and Brandon Moore (TE’s)

Both caught one pass, but did everything asked of them and provided second and third tight ends in special packages.

Watson’s blocking will be missed.

Next Season: Brandon Moore really needs to step it up and take the next step or maybe even a couple of steps with losing Kevin Koger and Watson at the tight end positions.

18. Roy Rouundtree (WR):

He is a bit of a forgotten player, but still caught 19 passes and accepted his role like a true team player.

Next Season: get better, work harder, and catch the ball always. He probably dropped from last season where he seemed to be more of a priority, but this year he still had some good games and good catches. Just remember Notre Dame if you need a reminder.

17. Mike Shaw (RB):

If only he could have stayed healthy. Had a potentially promising career coming out of high school, but year after year he seemed to get a different injury that seemed to slow his progress down each season. We wish Michael all the best in his future endeavors.

16. Brendon Gibbons (PK):

Talk about a turn around. Brendon was 54/55 on PAT’s and 13 for 17 on FG’s, including one huge game winning kick in the Sugar Bowl!

He has to be the most excited player with the change of coaches. He went from being under the bus tire, one liner zingers at press conferences to a consistent field goal kicker who ended up kicking the winning field goal in the Sugar Bowl. Has to be a sweet ending to a season for Brendon.

Next Season: and every season, is different and brings new challenges. For a kicker this means keep building confidence, work on strength that can lengthen his range, and pile up points.

Next article we will have the ranking of offensive players #15-10.
