CoachBt:
Coming off bye is always a wildcard.
You are never sure how team will react.
Compound this with Purdue coming off big win and it further complicates the issue.
Have a hunch Michigan starts slow, but comes on strong and win.

Michigan fans and team needed the bye week that is for sure.
Coming off a bye week can go two ways obviously, but in most cases teams seem to come out a little rusty until they get a few series under their belt. Having the loss to Michigan State, Homecoming, and yes Bacon’s book coming out this week all leads to a lot of distractions for the fans, coaches, and even the players. Can the team focus on this year’s team and not allow past issues to effect them twice?
Which Purdue team shows up? The one early on that just got by Middle Tennessee State, losing to Rice, losing by 4 touchdowns to Notre Dame? Or the team that lost to Penn State in a close game even though Penn State hasn’t really faced anybody yet, and came out strong against Illinois and beat them by a touchdown?
Seems like Purdue has found their quarterback and they have gotten away from the two-quarterback system or monster it can become.
Can Michigan get back on track after the emotional and physical butt whipping they took in East Lansing? Can this Michigan team put the demons of the past behind them and get back to what Coach Hoke demands out of his team this season and get back on the winning track.
Think the game is likely going to be close early on and might even see Michigan struggle in the first half, but think Michigan pulls away in the second half and starts to get some of those old monkey’s off their back from the previous years.
Think Michigan needs to put some of the “cute” stuff back in the back of the playbook and get back to what has worked for them this season.
I believe Michigan make Purdue one-dimensional and that usually means you can control the tempo and also control the game.

Mike Fitzpatrick:
To me Purdue is our statement game for the 2011 season. How we respond following the loss to the Spartans will tell us a lot about this team, and what we can expect down the home stretch.
Purdue is “efficient” on offense and underrated defensively. The Boiler D has been solid all season and has been manhandled by no one.
With two weeks to prepare for Purdue we should be ready to go. Let’s see the O-line take control, get the running game going (other than Denard) and get the passing game in rythem early. On D we matchup very well against the Boilers. If we stay strong up front, stay in our lanes, pursue to the ball, and tackle fundamentally we should shut this team down.
Again, I’m not entirely sure what to expect in this game. If Purdue is able to have success early this could be a nailbiter. My hunch is that we are gong to put together a solid performance this Saturday. Don’t ask me why – but my little voice is telling me we are going to start putting it together this week. GO BLUE!

Purdue is not going to be an easy foe to shake, IMO.
I think they will try the same formula (with less talent) to try to bottle Denard on defense.. especially if he continues to struggle with his passing game. I think people that are calling for a change must understand that the offensive line and the running game isn’t going to suddenly become better and execute with Devin. We need to establish some offensive balance and Purdue will not be able to cover like MSU did.
Purdue’s offense is decent, but not unstoppable. Stop the run and you stop them for the most part. Our defense has to protect the edge better and force turnovers. Still, they can strike quick, like most efficient spreads can. I liken them to San Diego State without the big armed QB. Our front four has to show up. No pressure, no success.
I think home field will help.
