CoachBt:

This streak cannot go on forever right? Ohio State is too deep and to good on defense. Streak goes on another year.

Michigan 21 — Ohio State 38

Doc4Blu:

Michigan 14 — Ohio State 42

ErocWolverine:

Well once again it comes down to the Ohio State game. Not for BCS game, not for Big Ten championships, not for national title contention, but just for the season to come to a close.

This season started off well playing Gordan Gee’s “little sisters of the poor” schedule and then we ran into the brick wall of the top teams in the Big Ten.

Will it continue against Ohio State or will this nightmare streak against the evil Darth Vadar continue?

Anytime a Michigan team plays in the “Snake Pit” it makes it a lot tougher. A lot of teams can go into that place and get a win, but the fans and the emotion of “The Game” really comes out in this game.

Ohio State has a all week pep rally getting their students, their players, their fans excited about this game. Let’s hope the excitement level isn’t as high and they come out flat along with them team.

The sad part is the game has taken on a new meaning lately. You don’t have the hatred as you did say back in the Cooper era. It is almost like Ohio State fans are feeling sorry for Michigan and for myself that is worse than the hatred that use to spill around these parts in Ohio all year long, but especially game week in November.

Use to love this week and what it meant and knowing the game could go either way, but lately just want the season to end.

For Michigan to win they need the perfect storm to happen. They need decent weather, not much wind, Ohio State to come out flat, play poor football, and make Pryor have a very bad game. They also need several turnovers and get the fans out of the game early.

For Michigan to lose this game all they need to do is what has happened in the Michigan State, Iowa, Penn State and Wisconsin games … to basically be out of it by halftime and playing catch up. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

I just don’t see this team playing the perfect game. We haven’t seen it yet under Coach Rod against good teams and not sure we will see it in the snake pit today either.

Come next week the real debate begins and the future of the Michigan football program.

MaizeMan:

Don’t know why, but I have a good feeling about this game.

WerlsWolverine:

I don’t care if the spread is +50 points I would never pick the other team in this game. I think we are gonna have to have the “perfect storm” happen here, we need to do everything right and the other team needs to have a very bad day.

Michigan 30 — Other Team 28

Yostmeister:

I used to look forward to this week, this game so much. In the past I knew it meant that I would burn with hatred for 365 days or smile with a smug satisfaction for the same duration. It was the epitome of what all Michigan fans live for. Well… it used to be, anyways. I never knew life prior to this game meaning something- being that I was just a wee lad in 1969.

I grew to despise Woody and the Buckeyes even though I respected the man and the team. That is why it meant so much- because they were the best, or close to it. And yes, we had our frustrations in the 70’s, especially with missed field goals and goal line opportunities. But gosh we were good, too. Proud. Clean. Leaders and Best. That lasted a solid forty years, too.

Now in three short years we are giddy that we outlast Indiana. Or Notre Dame. Or Purdue. How sad that is, when we raise our glasses to the Grand daddy’s redheaded stepchild bowl that we somehow qualified for with wins over the Big Ten patsies, some sloppy non-conference seconds, and a I-AA team.

So… how am I to describe how I feel about going down to the Snakepit? To the land of the obsessed and wretched? A place that is programmed into my Garmin as “south til you smell it and east til you step in it?”

I don’t feel a thing. I’m numb. Why? Because we have already been defeated. The Buckeye faithful (or devil’s spawn as I really refer to them) actually feel empathy for our program. They actually yearn for us to be a worthy opponent again, not just a scrimmage for their BCS bowl game. They want it to mean something, too. It’s no fun for them, even though they’ll take it… because… well those guys in the funny helmets still represent that school up north and we still have a healthy lead in the all time meetings. Empathy doesn’t replace viral hatred. After all, we used to give little brother the same treatment, right?

I can’t say I am overly confident that Jim Tressel and Sloopy and Carmen and everyone else down there won’t be singing and dancing on our grave again. Every indication suggests that we are out manned, out talented, out coached and are staring at the most hostile environment a Michigan team can face. I can only hope that the men perform as best as they can and play a full sixty minutes without completely embarrassing our program again. In the end, though, the Buckeyes will dominate Michigan as easily as the other good teams we played this season. Pick your poison- run it down our throats, throw it, you name it. Maybe the offense will actually engage before they are down 21 points. Maybe the kickoffs will stay in bounds, or punts won’t be muffed. Anyway you slice it, Michigan will have to play perfect just to have a chance at being respectable. Why? Well because to the Buckeyes, it is still THE GAME and they’ll be ready.

Tell me when it’s over.
