GBMWolverine: Game Predictions and Commentary — Purdue

CoachBt:

This is as good a match up situation as Michigan has seen this year.

Purdue’s passing game is not proficient enough to challenge Michigan’s biggest weakness, an inexperienced secondary.

Purdue’s rush defense not a strength.

Only question is Michigan psyche, is their a hangover from playing three overtimes and the emotional win.

Michigan 42 — Purdue 28.

Doc4Blu:

Purdue will climb the soapbox and preach the evil of snake oil. Hope hates Michigan: oh well, stand in line Danny, there are folks who have been in line much longer. Purdue will use any and all potential means of motivation. The best snake oil medicine for Purdue is the unfortunate reality that the Boilers have beat the Wolverines in two successive years of very improbable games and results.

Will Michigan’s players play as hard as last week? Will the young and the hungry make “corrections” and execute better? Will Denard make it the entire game? Will any of the running backs have a big day? Can Michigan pass for over 300 yards against a very vulnerable pass defense that must pay attention to a great athlete at qb?

The biggest fear for Purdue is the entire Michigan offense clicks and commits few if any turnovers. The biggest fear for Michigan is the Wolverines repeat the pattern of giving up over thirty points to any Big Ten team and make enough turnovers to neuter the offense.

The game is on the road and Michigan needs a good start. Purdue is not great through the air with the young quarterback, but look for big gains on the quarterback scramble unless the rush gets the job done.

Michigan should be able to pass over the middle for big yardage; Purdue is very vulnerable on crossing patterns that take plenty of time as well as the slant and skinny post. Roundtree could have a big day unless the Purdue defense games him. In this case the outs and flats would probably be effective.

This could be another shootout, or one team could run out of gas and pack it in. The bet here is the Wolverines will not pack it in.

Michigan will score, the fun part might be to see if any advancements have been made on defense. Let us hope so, but beware, people like leopards do not change their spots.

Michigan 37 Purdue 27.

ErocWolverine:

This is a trap game for Michigan. Should be an easy win with Purdue using what their third quarterback this season along with all the injuries they have had this season.

Purdue quite frankly is a bad team that a lot of teams have taken for granted early on, but then came out and took care of business.

Will the three overtime win last week for Michigan become an issue in this game? Will they look at it and believe they can beat anybody now especially with Purdue’s record along with the extra emotional/physical part of the game last week.

These are the type of games in the past we wouldn’t even make such a big deal out of them, but since Purdue has won the last two games and Michigan fans lowering their expectations so much over the past several seasons this will be a game that a lot of Michigan fans will worry about.

Purdue doesn’t match up very well against Michigan even when healthy this season. Believe that Denard will have a big day and a lot of Michigan fans will get all excited and think Denard is back in for the bronze statue. Well he will need big numbers against teams like Wisconsin and Ohio State for that to happen or at least be in the top 5.

Weather might be a factor for this game and should benefit Michigan — how many times would you hear of that this season, but Purdue relies so much on the passing game where Michigan doesn’t have to especially for this game.

Michigan pulls ahead early, Purdue tries to make a comeback, but fails miserable with the defense being able to step up in a bad weather game where they only have to concentrate on Purdue being a passing team in bad weather.

Michigan wins big and gets the whole team that made the trip some playing action.

Michigan 42 — Purdue 20.

MaizeMan:

Michigan wins big.

WerlsWolverine:

Heres hoping Michigan dont fall asleep during this game, we should trounce this crappy Purdoo team. Iwould personally like to step on the accelorator and not take my foot off the entire game.

Lets hang 70 on Purdue.

Michigan 48 — Purdue 20.

Yostmeister:

Purdue is terrible, but Ross Ade is a nightmare to play at. I’ll be in the air, so I’ll miss it. Maybe that is my new motto, pick against them and they’ll win. May be close, but I still think our defense is gonna let us down.

Michigan 28 — Purdue 30.
