Mailbag question: Mike Hart and the Big Ten this year
Mailbag question: Mike Hart and the Big Ten this year
How do you think Mike Hart would have faired under Coach Rod’s offense?
After our performance through 2 weeks where do you see us having our roadblocks this season? I see losses currently at Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State. … Agree?

Thanks for the question.
Mike Hart would have been great in this current offense. Please refer back to the Cap 1 Florida/Michigan game when UM spread the field and Mike hart ate some lunch. With his vision and his one cut and go style, Hart would have been a perfect fit in our opinion.
We think the four games you mentioned, along with Michigan State, will be tough games for Michigan. In fact there will likely be very few romps in the park for UM within the Big Ten.
First off, let us briefly examine Iowa, who started somewhat slowly this year in their shaky first game. Iowa State needs to be excluded from the discussion. When the time comes, Michigan playing at Iowa in a nighttime primetime game may motivate Iowa to play its best game all year. This game could be a lot tougher than people believe right now.
Wisconsin may be in the still to be determined category. Wisky is certainly no secret; how this team pounds the ball and then runs play action on a defense, will again gauge this program’s success. If Wisky runs the ball well against UM, this game, also on the road, will be a tough assignment.
Penn State is a good team with an experienced quarterback, a very helpful asset on the road. Michigan may now actually have a real home field advantage.
Michigan State will always be a tough game, since UM is Sparty’s biggest game. Being an in state rival, MSU flat out does not like to lose to Michigan, even though historically there is precedence. MSU has long been referred to as the little brother who always wants to beat the big brother in anything, anywhere, anytime. This is a statement game for Michigan and could put to rest a lot of the talk in the off-season about Michigan State being the big name in the state of Michigan now.
Ohio State will always be the biggest game of the year for both universities. Success in this game remains a measure on how well your team does in a given year. OSU played USC tough in a game where many people thought USC would blow the Buckeyes out of the stadium. The Buckeyes are young at many positions, but very athletic and possess very good talent. So by the end of the year we expect the best game from OSU when they (the Buckeyes) come to Michigan Stadium This is a good thing the game this year is in AA and hopefully the aforementioned home field advantage will keep some of the Ohio State fans out this time.
