Michigan Football: The Annual Mott Takeover is getting Bigger and Bigger

The annual Mott Takeover on WTKA-AM (1050) is a win-win proposition.

It helps former Michigan football stars Brian Griese, Steve Hutchinson and Charles Woodson raise money for C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital — to the tune of almost $80,000 last year.

And it helps everyone else understand the program a little bit better.

This year’s “Takeover” is slated for Friday on WTKA, with a lineup that features some of the biggest names in the past couple decades of Michigan football. Programming will run from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be hosted by Ira Weintraub and Sam Webb.

The event kicks off Griese, Hutchinson and Woodson’s “Champions for Children’s Hearts” weekend fundraiser. And it provides the rare chance to listen to former players and coaches talk publicly — and often, frankly — about their time in Ann Arbor.

Here’s the lineup for Friday’s show, according to WTKA:

7-8 a.m.: Lloyd Carr, Jay Feely, Jarrett Irons, Chad Henne and David Baas.
8-9 a.m.: Al Borges, Remy Hamilton, Curt Mallory, Drew Stanton.
9-10 a.m.: Dana Jacobson, Peter Vanderkaay, Dhani Jones.
10-11 a.m.: Anthony Thomas, Mike Hart, Larry Foote, Chris Floyd, Tim Biakabutuka (tentative).
11 a.m.-noon: Jeff Backus, Ron Bellamy, John Navarre, Drew Henson, Jake Long.
Noon-1 p.m.: Marty Turco, Jimmy King, Travis Conlon, Andy Mignery.
1-2 p.m.: Ron English, Roy Manning, Marlin Jackson, Marcus Ray, Eric Mayes.
2-3 p.m. (Marcus Ray, host): Chris Perry, Cato June, Jerame Tuman, Mark Campbell, Aaron Shea.
3-4:30 p.m. (at the MDen): Steve Everitt, Steve Hutchinson, Glen Steele, Ben Mast, Jake Long.
4:30-6 p.m. (at the MDen): Charles Woodson, Denard Robinson (tentative), Dr. Valerie Castle, Rob Renes, James Hall, Amani Toomer.

A gala dinner and auction will follow Saturday night, then a golf outing Sunday at the university’s golf course will wrap things up.
