After a tough loss to Penn State, Michigan basketball hosts Maryland Saturday in a huge Big Ten battle. Here are three predictions for the Wolverines.

With just six games remaining on the schedule for Michigan basketball, the Big Ten Conference race is getting tighter and tighter and now four teams are separated by just one game.

Two of those teams are Michigan basketball (11-3) and Maryland (10-4). This will be the first of two meetings between the Wolverines and Terrapins, who beat Purdue. That, combined with Michigan’s loss at Penn State got Maryland, Purdue and Michigan State within a game.

The Wolverines and Terps played once last season, with Michigan coming out on top and they haven’t played since. Right now, Maryland has been on fire lately and has won four of five games on the road including a win over Nebraska on its last road trip.

Of course, in the Big Ten, any win on the road is a good one and no team realizes how hard it is to win on the road in the league than Michigan, which has lost three of four after the loss to Penn State. At the same time, the Wolverines are undefeated at home, so the Terps will have their work cut out for them.

The Wolverines will take on Maryland Saturday at 12 PM EST and looking ahead, here is our breakdown and three predictions.
