Future Michigan Wolverines quarterback Brandon Peters (Avon, Indiana) was in action Friday night against Indiana high school football powerhouse Ben Davis in Indianapolis.

This was my first time seeing the highlight of Michigan recruiting live, and he did not disappoint, throwing for 381 yards and four touchdowns on 26-for-44 passing. His Avon Orioles fell short in a 49-42 loss, but it didn’t take long to see why Jim Harbaugh compared Peters to Andrew Luck.

Peters controlled the game when his offense was on the field, picking apart the defense (sometimes effortlessly) and putting his team in position to keep up in a game that featured a lot of scoring.

Both interception thrown were just unfortunate. One was tipped and the other was caused by being drilled on his release. A defensive lineman just happened to be in the right place at the right time and ran it all the way back. That was with 1:48 left in the game and sealed the deal.

Still it was hard to not simply be amazed by some of the things Peters was able to do.

Peters is a Harbaugh quarterback—he’s 6-foot-5, has a big arm and can move decently—but the path hasn’t been cleared for him in Ann Arbor. Michigan currently has nine quarterbacks on its roster and is only set to lose fifth-year senior Jake Rudock.

The competition will be fierce by the time Peters steps on Michigan’s campus next year, but the talent he’s been displaying makes it hard to dismiss him.
