Michigan Wolverine Hockey: Andrew Copp Signs with Jets

In a surprise at least to most Michigan Wolverine hockey fans they lost one of their players for next seasons team already.

No it wasn’t JT Compher (Sophomore this past season), Zach Werenski (Freshman this past season), Michael Downing (Sophomore this past season), or Detroit Red Wings draft choice Dylan Larkin (Freshman this past season) leaving early. So is this the first shot of many? That to be determined later. Those were the names that our own hockey analyst YostMeister was worried about possibly leaving early and if that happens next years team could struggle.

Michigan Wolverine hockey program lost it’s team captain Andrew Copp (2014-2015 season) today when he signed with the Winnipeg Jets and forgoes his senior year in Ann Arbor on a three-year, two-way, entry level contract.

Michigan Wolverines

Copp who lead the team in goals his sophomore year with 15 goals in the 2013-2014 hockey season. In his sophomore campaign he also represented the USA at the 2014 World Junior Championship where he had 5 assist in five games.

Andrew ends his college career with 81 points (40 goals, 41 assist) in 107 games over three seasons.

Andrew Copp was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the fourth round, 104th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft. We here at GBMWolverine wish him well in his future and Go Blue!
