Michigan Wolverine Recruiting: Connor Murphy Offered by Harbaugh

Connor Murphy, a 2016 Michigan football recruit has a familiar name to Jim Harbaugh recruiting past because his brother Trent Murphy was recruited by Jim Harbaugh along with fellow Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin. Trent was a 3-star prospect coming out of Arizona as well and now is playing in the NFL with the Washington Redskins after being a second round pick in 2014 draft.

Connor is a little bit taller and weighs a little more than his older brother who was 6’5, 235lbs.

Bio:
Height: 6’7
Weight: 240
Position: Defensive Line (DE)
Rankings: 3-4 star

Murphy is being looked at as a defensive end at the college level, but remember he still has a lot of football before arriving on campus as well. He already has six offers to date with Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan, Oregon State, Stanford, and Vanderbilt all have offered this 2016 recruit.

The 2016 recruiting class will be a lot bigger than the previous couple years of recruiting at Michigan which will be a good thing for Jim Harbaugh and staff to start bringing in their own players that they want to build around this Michigan program.

Connor tells Rivals an interesting story which involves Harbaugh, himself and a in-home visit when Jim Harbaugh was visiting his older brother Trent. “A funny real quick story about me and Jim Harbaugh,” Connor Murphy said. “When I was young, my mom actually went into labor at the hospital when Jim Harbaugh was over in Arizona recruiting my brother. He was at my house for an in-home visit, and I got to sit down on the living room floor with Jim Harbaugh as he ended up babysitting us kids. I got to play chess and drink milk with him, I guess that was pretty cool.

“I go way back with Coach Harbaugh. He’s obviously the guy that recruited my brother to go to Stanford when he coached at Stanford. Jim Harbaugh, he’s always been a father figure to me, so I’m stoked about the Michigan offer for sure.”

The coaches have already started the 2016 recruiting class coming out early and offering several recruits that they believe will help the Michigan program. Some might not be the elite level ranked by the recruiting sites, but as we have seen in the past they have been wrong many times before and these coaches have shown that they can make a 3-star into a NFL player.
