Michigan Wolverine Football: Miami University vs. Michigan — Quick Hitters

1.) The defense was pretty stout. Got pressure on the QB, only gave up points when given a short field to defend, and finally forced a turnover. It was good to see Peppers out there, get Ray Taylor and Des Morgan back into the mix and I think the defense has the potential to keep the team in the rest of our games.

He had an OK game, my biggest concern is he just doesn’t seem to have the development you’d expect from a 5th year senior. He had a couple bad passes today and still has no idea how to throw the ball away. He could have easily had 2 INTs this afternoon. Does he have the vision to find the open man?

3.) I was definitely in the De’veon Smith camp but I will give it up for Derrick Green, he had a nice second half. Hopefully this is a sign of true development and not a reflection on the opponent. He has better speed and probably shiftiness than Smith and when he sees the hole he has the ability to get there and then accelerate.

4.) This is exactly what I was asking for when it comes to getting Shane Morris playing time. He had one really nice run and had two perfect passes dropped, one in the endzone. The Redhawks are terrible and he did exactly what you’d want to see: he carved them up.

Sep 13, 2014; Ann Arbor, MI, USA; Michigan Wolverines wide receiver Dennis Norfleet (23) carries the ball in the first quarter against the Miami (Oh) Redhawks at Michigan Stadium. He’s been great on kickoff and punt returns. The short kickoff that was turned over was just embarrassing, but Matt Wile hit a couple easy field goals. I would be very hesitant to rely on Wile to close out a game, but it’s nice to have him gain some confidence after a disastrous start to the season.
