Michigan Football: 2014 NFL Draft — Taylor Lewan picked 11th by Titans
Taylor Lewan the All-American offensive tackle from Michigan was picked 11th by the Tennessee Titans. He was the third offensive tackle taken in the 2014 NFL draft which saw Auburn star Greg Robinson to Saint Louis Rams with the #2 pick and then Atlanta Falcons selecting Texas A&M left tackle Jake Matthews at the #6th pick in the NFL draft.
Many Lions fans thought they wouldn’t see the possibility of Lewan falling to them and many hoped that the Lions organization would pick the hometown boy, but once again another Detroit team decided to shun the local product for somebody else. As we saw last NBA draft with the Detroit Pistons passing over Trey Burke who was the best player in college basketball two seasons ago.Lewan had issues off the field as well that might have lead to the slipping in the draft, but his combine numbers were quite well which many experts believed would land him in the top 10 in the NFL draft.
We will have to wait and see probably until the third or fourth round for the next Wolverine to get drafted. We expect Michael Schofield to be the next Michigan player to get drafted.
