Michigan Football: Thoughts on Spring Practice — Part III — Defense

This is a small sample/snip-its of what we have on spring practice on the message board. Have to be a member of the message board to read the 700 word post.

Just a reminder, don’t get to excited, it is practice against each other, but the way and the style of practice now is the most positive thing we saw.

Defense:

Listening to Coach Mark Smith talk about defensive line play and like him a ton better at DL coach. Said that the DL this season is there to make plays, not to take up blockers. They want to be very aggressive and I do think they have a chance to be much better

Thursday Coach Mattison wanted to work on blitz packages from nickel and dime packages.

One player we all forget about is Glasgow (DT).

The big surprise today was Strobel.

Lewis was the best player Thursday.

Thomas is way ahead at safety (Opinion Alert).

Bolden started along with Ryan.

Quiet day for Clark.

Hurst is living up to the hype.

There was one very bad defensive play, 4 seconds left, ball on the 50, Morris just threw it up, York out-jumped 5 defenders and scored.

Special Teams:

Sypniewski kid is a great long snapper.
