The Michigan Wolverine hockey team returns to Yost Ice Arena this weekend to take on Penn State Friday night.
Penn State has won only one Big Ten hockey game this year and that was Michigan just a couple of weeks ago. Since then Michigan has lost 3 straight games (one to Penn State and then first place Minnesota swept the Wolverines last weekend.
Michigan has been good at Yost this season with a 7-1-2 record while Penn State has struggled on the road with a 1-8 record.
In 14 games against Guy Gadowsky coached teams, Michigan is 9-5, including a series split on Feb. 7-8. Gadowsky was the head coach at former CCHA foe Alaska Fairbanks for five seasons from 1999-2004 before moving on to become the head coach at Princeton.
Michigan is one of three teams in the nation without a power play goal from its defensive corps, along with Boston College and Bentley.
Michigan will be without Sinelli and Michael Downing on Friday night as the Big Ten Conference office announced Monday that each have each been suspended for one game, under the conference’s supplemental discipline process, as a result of separate incidents that occurred in a game against Minnesota.
