Michigan Hockey: Michigan at Penn State — Game 2 Recap
The Wolverines went out and made history today, LOSING to a four win Penn State team for their 1st ever B1G Ten win. (Keep in mind last season they did beat Wisconsin, OSU and MSU).
The usually steady freshman Zach Nagelvoort was awful, giving up three leaky goals on nine shots. He gave up three on Friday night also. Steve Racine came in after the third goal in the first period and yielded a late 3rd period goal on 22 shots. The real story was PSU’s goaltender Matt Skoff who shutout Michigan on 32 saves.
The loss keeps Michigan 2 points behind Wisconsin who completed a Gopher sweep on Friday. The Wolverines now find themselves 10th in the PWR and have to travel to Minneapolis for two next weekend.
One other critical note:
Forward Alex Guptill left the game in the second period after getting sandwiched. It appears that he may have suffered a collarbone or shoulder injury.
