A way too early look at the 2014 Michigan Football Depth Chart (Part 1: Offense)

Before we jump into the 2014 Michigan Football Depth Chart, lets look at the areas where the Wolverines obviously need help. In 2013, the U-M set a program record for least rushing yards at MSU (-48 yards) then tried to (unsuccessfully) break it the following week at Nebraska (-21).

The offensive line, the running backs, and most-of-all offensive coordinator Al Borges conveniently took the blame. Head coach Brady Hoke probably saw Borges as the perfect scapegoat, and sent the veteran of more than 25 years (as an OC) packing.

Borges was replaced by Doug Nussmeier, who made the lateral move from Alabama. Nussmeier, who spent two years in Tuscaloosa was part of the Crimson Tide’s 2012 national championship. He was also instrumental in Alabama quarterback A. J. McCarron’s progress.

Earning a spot on either the offensive line or in the backfield will be very competitive.  After winter workouts, spring practice,  summer drills and fall practice are complete, here’s how the team will line up when they face  Appalachian State Aug. 30.

The three-deep offense follows while the defense will be posted Friday (Jan. 17):
