• Series History: Today’s game will be the only regular season contest between Michigan and Northwestern. Overall, U-M leads the all-time series with a 107-56 record. The Wolverines have won the last five straight against the Wildcats. U-M has won its last three against Northwestern at Crisler Center and owns a 61-20 record in Ann Arbor.

• Northwestern comes to Ann Arbor with a 7-7 overall record and a 0-1 Big Ten mark under first-year head coach Chris Collins.
• Northwestern opened its Big Ten season with a 76-49 loss to No. 4 Wisconsin in Evanston, Ill. The Wildcats were led by sophomore center Alex Olah, who had 23 points on 10-for-14 shooting. Fifth-year forward Drew Crawford added 10 points and six rebounds.
• Northwestern is led by Drew Crawford, who leads the team in scoring (15.9) and rebounding (7.7). JerShon Cobb (12.2 ppg) and Tre Demps (10.5 ppg) give the Wildcats three double figure scorers.
• Northwestern is the lowest-scoring team in the Big Ten averaging 65.4 points per game. Every other Big Ten team is averaging at least 71 points per contest.
• Northwestern’s trip to Ann Arbor will be its first conference road game of the season. The Wildcats went 1-2 in non-conference road games, falling at Stanford (71-58) and North Carolina State (69-48) in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Wildcats’ lone road win was at Illinois-Chicago (68-64).

• Michigan will face its third team with ties to Duke this season. U-M played at Duke in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge against legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski. The Wolverines followed with a game against Stanford and former Duke assistant Johnny Dawkins at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Now, U-M plays Northwestern’s Chris Collins, who was an assistant at Duke for 13 seasons, in its Big Ten opener at Crisler Center.
• During today’s game Michigan will honor the 40th anniversary of its 1973-74 team and the 50th anniversary of 1963-64 team.
• Michigan opened its Big Ten season winning at Minnesota, 63-60. Coming off the bench, Zak Irvin (15 points) and Jon Horford (14 points) led U-M to its fifth straight win at Williams Arena.
• Jon Horford had a career-best night at Minnesota. He scored a career-best 14 points in a career-high 30 minutes. He went 6-for-8 from the field, which were both career-bests and tied a career-best with two steals.
• Since making the move to come off the bench two games ago, Jon Horford has shot 66.7 percent (10-for-15) and averaged 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds. He has back-to-back double figure scoring games — (10, Holy Cross) and (14, at Minnesota).
• Over his last three games, Zak Irvin has shot 50.0 percent from long range (11-for-22).
• Nik Stauskas had a career-best seven assists at Minnesota. He leads the team with 3.6 per game.
