Michigan Football: Tidbits from CoachBT — Reality Check
Wow, lots of things floating in my head after reading the entire Maizeman thread. Kind of dizzy actually.
#1. Team is heading in right direction.
#2. Team is showing some growing pains, but that should be expected. Many linemen have been brought in last two classes and they take the longest to develop and assimilate.#3. Team still has areas of deficiency that need addressed through recruiting. Some of my friend Maizeman’s concerns/getting off blocks has to do with those deficiencies. Bottom line, staff did great job improving team size. Now needs to address speed and overall athletic ability.
#4. Look at the roster and two-deep depth charts, this is a very young team. With youth comes ups and downs. Not easy but reality.
#5. I never get too excited about the early season. Sure Notre Dame is special, but this seasons success will be judged by how team plays in November. Sloppy wins in August and Sept are expected. Especially with young team.
#6. If the sloppiness does not start to show signs of improvement shortly, then I will be concerned. Minnesota was step in right direction.
#7. Broken record time, I am on record that this was a 5 year job. The talent level had dropped to the point that quick fix was almost impossible. I have seen nothing to change that assessment.
