Michigan Football: Minnesota at Michigan — Opening The Box of Chocolates

Opening The Box of Chocolates
Michigan Heads Into Big Ten Play

So, what is going to happen Saturday when Minnesota takes the field in Ann Arbor? Just like All-American Forrest Gump’s mother stated- it’s a box of chocolates.

Minnesota was on a high but got beat back pretty good by an Iowa team that is reasonably physical and efficient when not making turnovers. The Wolverines hopefully have the tails out from between the legs.

The Michigan opponents did not have anything to be happy about last Saturday. Central Michigan, Akron, UConn, and Notre Dame crashed in meteoric non-splendor. Yes, indeed, it is not a perfect correlation to match the results of opponents against other teams, but the results beg a big ouch.

We will all see who starts on the offensive line and also we will see if the game management situation has been at the very least toned down. If the offensive line can move forward and pass pro, then Michigan should score points against the Minnesota defense.

Minnesota has two good quarterbacks, and after last Saturday an announcement may be in order as to the Gopher starter. Minnesota has had some luck, before Saturday, running up the middle. The passing game is sound and basic and frankly Michigan’s back seven have an opportunity to improve. The passing game is good enough to hit a big play if all goes well.

Jerry Kill is a very well respected coach and the game film on Michigan certainly has not been hard to decipher. The Gophers will be prepared; the question is how well will the talent compete against the Wolverines?

Michigan has now proved nothing can be taken for granted, and the Wolverines clearly need a big effort to send a message more to themselves than anyone else.
