Michigan Football: Central Michigan at Michigan — Game Preview

The long awaited opener with Central Michigan is at hand.

Central Michigan is a consistently strong MAC team that has hit the victory bullseye against Big Ten teams. Last year the Chippewas ran off a late string of victories to earn a bowl slot and then won the Little Caesar’s Bowl.

There are some losses from last year’s roster. Erik Fisher was chosen as the number one selection in the NFL Draft. Quarterback Ryan Radcliff, who put up big numbers, has graduated. Defender Jaheel Addae is working to make an NFL roster.

There is the other side of the coin. Back are plenty of big linemen on both sides of the ball. The offensive line especially has good experience and size. Jake Olson is a very seasoned tackle who will now play on the left side with the departure of Fisher.

Zurlon Tipton rushed for nearly 1500 yards last year. That type of number will get anyone’s attention.

Titus Davis is a receiver that has high yards per catch average.

Ron Coluzzi is a one-man kicking enterprise and does well in all phases. He could be a factor in any close gam.

Coach Dan Enos recently named the well-traveled Cody Kater as the starter against Michigan. Cody can be described as a guy who has not played much, but also as one with some dual-threat tools.

Michigan has some significant injuries that may make it a little harder to put a full press on the Chippewas early. But Michigan has plenty of first timers chomping at anything to get on the field. Self-control and letting the game just unfold will be goals for both teams.

Coach Enos has done a nice job since initiating his program at Central Michigan. Like everyone else he is looking forward to some football.
