Michigan Football Recruiting: Andrew David (K) — Offered and Then Commits
GBMWolverine Readers: Andrew David was just offered and accepted that offer to be the first commit in the 2015 recruiting class.
Current Position: Kicker/Punter
Future Position: Kicker/Punter
High School: Massillon Tigers
Class: 2015 Michigan Wolverine Recruiting Class (Verbal Commit).
The offer from the Wolverines — who are a favorite team of David’s father, Jeff — is believed to be the biggest David has received to date, which remains early in the process for juniors-to-be kicker.
A year ago, David was 7-of-15 on field goals, and 56-of-61 on point-after touchdown tries. He did hit four of his last seven field goals, and of his eight misses, five were from at least 38 yards out.
David also was a weapon on the kickoff team. He put 31 of his 74 kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks, and averaged a net of 55.8 yards per kick.
On 14 punts last season, David averaged 34 yards, including a 51-yarder in a Week 9 win over St. Vincent-St. Mary.
As a freshman in 2011, David made 6-of-9 field goals — a remarkable 4-of-5 from 40 yards and out. That included a career-long 46-yarder in windy conditions against Hoban at InfoCision Stadium.
For his still young Tiger career, David is 6-of-11 on 40-plus-yard field goal tries. He is 13-of-24 overall on field goals, as well as 88-of-95 on PATs.
