Michigan Football: Spring Practice Review and Awards– Offense

Quarterback:

Best Spring:
1. Devin Gardner
Improved in every phase, including maturity. This is his team.

Most Improved:
1. Brian Cleary
Better than expected. Nice addition for a walk-on.

Running Back:

Best Spring:
1. Drake Johnson
Nice package of size and speed. Has chance to be a quality back.

Dennis Norfleet
Nice change of pace from Johnson. Probably best hands of running backs.

Wide Receivers:

Best Spring:
1. Jeremy Gallon
Became Gardner’s go-to guy. Is fearless and always gives 100%.

Most Improved:
Juhu Chesson
Seemed to improve with each rep this spring. Very raw, but no doubting the talent.

1. Devin Funchess
Blocking is getting better and no doubting his receiver skills.

Most Improved:
1. Jake Butts
Still need to add quality size, but receiving skills should help.

Offensive Line:

Best pass Blocker:
1. Taylor Lewan
By quite a bit.

Most Improved:
1. Jack Miller
Moves his feet well and has good body positioning.

Best Run Blocker:
1. Michael Schofield
Bigger and Stronger. Showed a physical side he did not last spring.

Most Improved:
1. (Tie) Between Kyle Kalis and Ben Braden
Both showed noticeable improvement over the spring.
