Michigan Football: NFL Draft — Denard Robinson To the Jaguars, Will Campbell to the Jets
Michigan Football didn’t have a very good 2013 NFL draft this year which was expected with the talent level at this stage.
We at GBMWolverine believe this will be the last draft that it will take a player from Michigan to the third day to get selected for the NFL draft. This has really nothing to do with the current players or the current staff, but squarely falls on the shoulders of Rich Rodriguez and his coaching staff (who are at Arizona now) and the players they recruited. During recruiting this site tried to warn people of the RR era of recruiting, but many didn’t listen and wanted to believe recruiting sites when they was saying “these coaches are great recruiters and don’t believe the national sites about rankings — believe our site”.Denard Robinson was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 5th round (135th overall) and William Campbell was chosen by the New York Jets in the 6th round (178 overall) in the NFL Draft on Saturday.
Robinson was drafted as a running back, while Campbell was drafted as an offensive linemen.
“I’m so blessed,” said Robinson. “You dream of getting that call on draft day, and to get to stay in my home state of Florida, it’s an unbelievable feeling.
“I want to thank the Jaguars organization for giving me this opportunity, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Undrafted Michigan players agreed to free agent contracts include Brandin Hawthorne who will join the Saint Louis Rams, Craig Roh will join Carolina Panthers, Jordan Kovacs to the Miami Dolphins, Kenny Demens to the Houston Texans, Patrick Omameh to the San Francisco 49ers, Roy Roundtree to Cincinnati Bengals, Ricky Barnum to the Washington Redskins, and Elliott Mealer to the New Orleans Saints.
Good luck to you all!
