Monday Night Chat: For GBMWolverine Members Only!
We are having our Monday Night Chat at 8:00pm Eastern Time tonight so hopefully you can join us and talk Football spring practice, basketball tournament selection, and the hockey team turnaround the last couple of weeks advancing in the final CCHA playoffs.
Come join us as we talk about the Michigan Hockey team upsetting Western Michigan to advance to the final CCHA Semi-Finals Saturday at Joe Louis Arena where they will take on Miami. Michigan must win the CCHA tournament to extend their NCAA record 22 straight years in the NCAA tournament- a feat that even the ‘vaunted’ WCHA teams can’t brag about. Better yet, Coach Berenson is trying to extend a string of 25 consecutive seasons that his program has finished above the .500 mark. He has not suffered a subpar season since 1986-87 when his program finished at 14-25-1. Michigan will have to sweep WMU, win the CCHA Championship and then win their first round game in the NCAA playoffs to stay above the .500 mark. It has been a remarkable run for a coach that has also brought 767 wins, 2 National Championships, 11 Frozen Four appearances (including a runner up appearance in 2011), 11 regular season CCHA titles, 9 CCHA playoff titles and 15 GLI Tournament titles home to Yost arena. This season will conclude his 29th year behind the bench at Michigan (all in the CCHA).
The Michigan Basketball team will play South Dakota State in the NCAA Tournament. Don’t let the name you probably haven’t heard of fool you. They are a very good team and also have a very good player and that is all it takes this time of year. You need your best players come ready to play in this win and advance or lose and go home for the season tournament. Playing at the Palace of Auburn Hills should help Michigan draw a good crowd along with not having to deal with travel issues.
We will also discuss the Michigan Football team and starting spring practices. Granted they are only in shorts, but we can share details of what we believe the coaches will be working on this spring and who to look out for as well. Also Michigan had a few visitors in lately including a big target Da’Shawn Hand from Virginia who is one of the best in the 2014 recruiting class at the defensive end position.
