Michigan Basketball: Eastern Michigan vs. Michigan — Preview
No Frequent Flyer Miles
The EMU’s will take the not so long 6 or 7 mile trip to Crisler Center on Thursday. Eastern has played well at home going 6-0 this year, but is 0-3 on the road. Well this is hardly a road trip, as many EMU fans will be at the game, but this venue is not exactly a neutral site either.
Eastern has good size but not great depth at the size positions. Glenn Bryant, a 6’ 8” junior forward, is the best inside scorer. The other two leading scorers are guards Daylen Harrison and Derek Thompson. All three average over ten points a game.
The Eagles are not the best shooting team going by statistic, but Michigan tends to make other teams shoot well. On the season Eastern is shooting less than 40 percent and less than 30 percent from three-point land. These are statistics very similar to West Virginia.
The Eagles play very good defense limiting the opposition to statistics very near their own. The team has excellent statistics on blocks and steals and tends to break even on the boards.
Michigan is running out of time to fine tune the offense and renew the rotation with the injury of Horford. McLimans and Bielfeldt should get some minutes and Caris LeVert will get minutes to se how best he can spell players during the BIG season.
Will Beilein attempt to further the inside game? This has not really happened so far as a purposeful objective.
Michigan should get some work against the zone defense as the Eagles run the 2-3 zone frequently.
