Overview:

Csont’e has great length and smooth, and runs with a smooth, gliding style. He fits the exact type of athlete UM has recently been looking for at wide receiver: that is, tall and a ball seeker. He remains a bit under radar with an underwhelming offer sheet.

However, as frequently happens, Csont’e showed very well at the NFTC camp in Columbus. He also plays basketball and runs on his high school track team.

Strengths:

Csont’e adjusts well to the ball and shows excellent leaping ability. He displays enough burst to achieve separation if a defender does not honor his speed, and has quick enough feet to maintain his position.

Csont’e uses his body well to shield defenders. He is also a physical, fearless blocker, another sought after Michigan trait. Csont’e clearly has excellent hands and he literally plucks the ball out of the air.

Needs work:

Here again, like other recruits, Csont’e is not a burner, will he be able to continue to separate at the college level?.

Csont’e also plays a bit high and will need to learn to change levels when cutting. He is not very elusive and is just average after the catch.

Final Thoughts:

We welcome Csont’e York to Michigan and hope he has a successful career on and off the football field as a student-athlete at the University of Michigan. Go Blue!

Red-shirt or play his Freshman Year?

GBMWolverine believes he will likely red-shirt his first year. It would definitely help him in his college career, but might not be possible depending on how recruiting goes along with how the 2012 commits work out for Michigan. Hard to judge right now since they aren’t on campus either at this time.

Csont’e York reminds the GBMWolverine Staff of — Former Michigan Football Player — Marquise Walker — who played Wide Receiver.
