Michigan Hockey — Western Michigan vs. Michigan — CCHA Championship — Broncos outlast Wolverines
Michigan dug a hole again with sloppy coverage and poor decision making that staked WMU to a 3-0 lead.
The Wolverines came back in the third thanks to a weird set of circumstances. The officials decided to take a bigger role in the game and called a bizarre pair of five minutes majors on each team. Michigan scored on both- Clare shorthanded and Moffie on the PP to cut the lead to 3-2.
Michigan tilted the ice the last few minutes but could get the equalizer. Mac Bennett blew a chance in the slot and drilled a shot high and wide at a half empty net.
WMU deserved the win and rightly had three members on the all tourney team, joining Lee Moffie and Luke Moffatt.
Michigan now awaits their NCAA regional placing as they will earn a #1 seed, 2nd overall, probably at Green Bay.
