Digging up some of Joshua’s old interviews to share with our readers to get a little more familiar with our signed players from the class of 2012. This article was done back in February.

For our next installment of Q & A Sessions, 12′ 4* OT commit, Erik Magnuson (Carlsbad, Ca), sat down with us to answer a few questions. How does he feel to finally be able to call himself a Michigan Wolverine?

GBMWolverine: I know you’ve probably been asked this a million times. But talk a little bit about Josh Garnett. How did it feel to see him commit to Stanford?

Erik Magnuson: I was shocked. But he’s got to do what he’s got to do. Michigan didn’t need him. We would’ve loved to have him but it’s not the end of the world.

GBMWolverine: Wasn’t he supposed to be your roommate? If so, how much of a mad scramble did you have to make in order to find someone?

Erik Magnuson: (Laughs) We talked about it. I didn’t do much searching, as Kyle Kalis and I talked about being roommates prior to Josh and I, so it all works out.

GBMWolverine: Speaking of Kyle, he has recently made headlines with his words about the rivalry with Ohio and blood being spilled. As a teammate, how do those comments make you feel?

Erik Magnuson: They pumped me up! That’s what I like to hear. Kyle is a very intense and competitive person and that’s what I like.

GBMWolverine: Of course, we all know Wednesday was a very special day for you. It had to feel like Christmas to you.

Erik Magnuson: (Laughs) It felt good to finally get it out of the way.

GBMWolverine: How does it feel to finally be a Wolverine? What does being a Michigan Wolverine mean to you?

Erik Magnuson:

It feels awesome! Being a Wolverine means a lot because there’s so much tradition and history behind the University and football program. You’re committed to something bigger then just a football team which you sign your LOI to the University of Michigan.

GBMWolverine: When you were recruited, were you given an opportunity to compete for early playing time?

Erik Magnuson: Yeah, what they told me is when I get there I have to compete from day one because there is an opportunity to start as a true freshman. But, there are no promises. The best five lineman will start day one.

GBMWolverine: Do you hate Michigan Sate and Ohio yet? Or is that something you will learn over time?

Erik Magnuson: I already hate Ohio more than any other team. Starting to hate State as well. It just comes with being a Michigan person.

GBMWolverine: It’s not hard to hate State. Did Urban Meyer bug you like other Michigan commits? I heard he was a real pest.

Erik Magnuson: I never talked to him.

GBMWolverine: What are some goals you have set yourself for your freshman season?

Erik Magnuson: Im going to go in there and try to win a starting job. Simple.
