GBMWolverine: Game Predictions and Commentary: Illinois

CoachBt:

My heart wants to believe that UM team will rally and play best game of the year. My head tells me this game is match up nightmare and UM history under Coach Rod is not bouncing back strongly.

Head trumps heart this time.

Illinois 42 — Michigan 28

Doc4Blu:

Prediction didn’t come in time … will update when it does.

ErocWolverine:

Can this team bounce back? We will see. Illinois is a good team, but not a great team. Michigan doesn’t really match-up well against Illinois.

They have a very good running game (better than Penn State) and you would assume they have a better quarterback than a walk-on at Penn State. There front four on the defensive line is better than Penn State’s so where does that leave us right now. Hoping that homefield advantage and the crowd will help the home team and hurt Coach Zook and his team.

A thing that bothers me about this game is all the pressure that the players are probably feeling. They know what the media, the fans, and everybody else is saying about the team and Coach Rod’s future. Having a players only meeting (IMO) just tells me that — just that much more as well.

That kind of pressure could actually backfire and hurt you on gameday. Worried about making a mistake and also if Illinois does something well or gets on top early we could see this team go down hard. Let’s hope not.

I just don’t see Michigan stopping their running game and I am sure we will make their passing game look the best the entire year and another good game by a quarterback who is facing Michigan.

Illinois 38 — Michigan 25.

MaizeMan:

Think Michigan wins this game.

WerlsWolverine:

This has to be a record for the most must win games in a season. I hope we recover after last weeks performance, it is definately time to start beating teams that we should, a win would be huge going into purdoodoo, here’s to hoping the tailgating isnt the highlight of the day.

I want to say.

Illinois 35 — Michigan 38

But I can’t.

Illinois 45 — Michigan 30

Yostmeister

It is pretty apparent that there are major issues at Schembechler Hall, from the injuries, recruits and personnel leaving the program to the defensive philosophy and execution.

Quite simply, this is the most embarrassing and frustrating situation this program has seen since the dark ages of Michigan football (1958-1968, sans 1964 and 1968.)

No team can win giving up an average of 30+ points a game on defense, especially in the Big Ten.
I won’t be sucked into the vortex again- and apparently my clairvoyance on the Penn State game didn’t extend to the field. But, what do you want for a hockey writer?

If Rodriguez doesn’t show some program improvement these last four games and wins at least one game to become bowl eligible … he should and will be fired – and it didn’t take Miss Cleo to predict that.

It won’t start this weekend, as Illinois has one of the best defenses in the conference. The ax is being sharpened.

Illinois 34 Michigan 17.
