GBMWolverine Game Predictions and Commentary: Michigan State

Time for the Michigan State at Michigan game so all poster give your predictions and commentary as well.

CoachBt:

Michigan comes out with great focus and purpose. Iowa has superior defense and I am concerned about Denard Robinson’s health.

Iowa 31 — Michigan 28

Doc4Blu:

Iowa has had two weeks to prepare for Michigan, almost unfair since Iowa’s staff scores high at game planning. Iowa has the instruments to hurt Michigan, good tight end play, excellent play action, excellent quarterback play and one of the very best defenses in the Big Ten. Iowa does not even appear to be hiding the defensive strategy: force Denard to throw, take away the edge (sound familiar).

Michigan will play hard and if the defense can just play to assignment, Michigan may be able to stay in the game. Everything needs to go right for UM to win. But a win is quite possible. Being at home helps, Odoms is unavailable, everything else is wait and see.

On the surface too much to overcome.

Iowa 31 — Michigan 17

ErocWolverine:

This week Iowa comes to town for homecoming and we will see how this years Michigan team bounces back or falls into “groundhog Day” from last season.

Iowa has one of the best defense’s in the country and will be a big test for the Michigan offense. Michigan should still be able to move the ball on them, but I don’t believe they will be able to sustain drives, get those big plays like we saw in non-conference play and be able to put a lot of points on the scoreboard.

Iowa leads the country in scoring defense, second in the country in rush defense and the fourth best team in the country in total defense.

Michigan needs to come out fast out of the gate and get ahead of Iowa and force them into a game they aren’t use to playing. If that happens Michigan has a chance, but if Michigan gets behind early it will be tough to overcome.

Michigan cannot have turnovers and beat a good team and shoot themselves in the foot. Playing at home should help Michigan and should hurt Iowa. Iowa has a very impressive home record under Coach Ferentz especially the last five years.

As I asked last week can Michigan State defense stop or hold down Denard Robinson well for the most part they contained him or forced him to look to others to make something happen. Well the samething holds true for Iowa this week.

This week we get to see a local product (at least us from GBMWolverine) that loves in Northwest Ohio with Micah Hyde who starts for Iowa at cornerback. He is from Fostoria, Ohio and GBMWolverine really wished Michigan would have offered him back then and taken a serious look at him because we thought he was a great athlete who could have helped out the team. Well by now he could have really helped the Michigan defense.

I believe Iowa is to strong and will take over this game. As I said last week with me taking Michigan State I HOPE I AM WRONG and Michigan beats Iowa.

Iowa 35 — Michigan 27.

MaizeMan:

I am sticking to my 9 win projection—and refuse to go along with the “crowd” who wants to lower expectations for this program.

This is my “no exucses” game—-UM to be considered even close to returning to its rightful place in college football simply has to start winning these games—-home against a tough opponent.

Kids rally——offense is more proficient—-defense is helped by Iowa’s style of play—-

Iowa 26 — Michigan 31.

WerlsWolverine:

Sorry I deleted WerlsWolverine prediction and didn’t get it back before article went up .. will fix when I can get his prediction. Sorry Werls.

Iowa — Michigan .

Yostmeister:

Michigan’s defense will be exposed again, saturday. If Rich Rod doesn’t get some defensive talent to stick on the roster, he’ll be gone after next season.

I am getting sick and tired of losing to our conference rivals and having a once proud tradition of NFL caliber physical offensive schemes turned into gimmick ball and hard nosed defensive football into the laughing stock of college football. How I pine for 1997 when we not only had the talent, but the intelligence to execute assignments.

Iowa 31 — Michigan 14.
